'Imminent Reveries'
OFFSITE (2024)

A gathering of thoughts, a moment for contemplation.

Aerial Palettes invited a selection of composers, performers, and artists working in fine art and sculpture to examine their compositional theories. 'Imminent Reveries' explored evolving concepts rooted in themes of memory and contemplation.

PERFORMANCE
Amanda Donato ‘A WAKE’ [Premiere, Excerpt*]

A WAKE is an interdisciplinary solo work and memorial service for Catalina Trezza — Donato’s maternal grandmother, who lived with Alzheimer’s disease. Presented in five acts, it is a deeply personal outpouring of what emerges when grieving the loss of a loved one’s healthy mind and identity. Flanked by massive subwoofers, A WAKE is set to an original low-frequency score by Stefanie Egedy. Donato’s body shrinks, breaks, dissociates, disintegrates, and tangles within a surreal, dreamlike landscape of memory — immersed in recollection, overindulging in the past as a way to resist disintegration and carry forward her grandmother’s legacy.

*The performance at OFFSITE was a twenty-minute excerpt ahead of the full solo premiere at Ufer Studios.

CONCERT
Pavel Milyakov & Severin Black [Live / Premiere]

Experimental musicians Pavel Milyakov and Severin Black come together for a night of ethereality and dissonance, weaving nostalgic soundscapes from their shared metal archives with improvised guitar and clarinet.

Bridget Ferrill [Live]

Ferrill’s music plays between composition and noise, exploring augmented instruments, handmade electronics, and experimental computer music.

EXHIBITION
Jill Kiddon ‘sliced in seconds' (echoes)

The site-specific arrangement by Jill Kiddon explores the enigmatic realms of memory and forgetting. Combining sculpture and sound, the work evokes the elusive nature of remembrance. Transparent epoxy resin objects, layered with textiles, represent the intricate and multifaceted nature of consciousness—where layers of past experiences and identities intertwine, blur, and transform into hybrid entities.

Jung Min Lee ‘9999 Days’

The 2023–2024 series, titled 9999 Days, envisions the desolate future consequences of human actions through a world of ruins, evoking a sense of nostalgia for a fallen human civilisation from the perspective of the newly created Neoanthropinae – the Harpies – brought into existence by humans.
