A closer inspection of intimacy.

Art Biesenthal 2024 – Aura's Present Decay, curated by Felipe Schwager and Tjioe Meyer Hecken, unfolds as an ambitious art exhibition and summer programme at the Wehrmuehle Museum in Brandenburg.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, guests are invited to actively engage with a diverse weekend programme featuring performance, dance, sound, and workshops—carefully curated by a range of artists, creatives, and collectives.

Aerial Palettes was invited to curate one weekend during Art Biesenthal, presenting a selection of commissioned performances and multidisciplinary concerts. Each artist was challenged to reflect on their relationship with intimacy, threading movement and sound through nature.

PERFORMANCE
Elena Francalanci ‘LA FINE’

LA FINE explores the concept of stretch. Its objective is to create delays that act as a visual and auditory “gum” for the senses, immersing participants to the point where they begin to long for a pause. At its core, the project seeks to prolong the conclusion of both movement and sound, posing the question: How long can the end be delayed?

Janan Laubscher ‘Face of this Landscape’ [Premiere]

Face of this Landscape is a conversation between an emerging somatic practice and the literary works of John O'Donohue. The Irish poet and 21st-century mystic wrote, "Everything in the world of soul has a deep desire and longing for visible form; this is exactly where the power of the imagination lives." Through deep listening, can we hear the secret music of the landscape and allow the visible and invisible to become one?

Valeriia Hereha & Liza Mokrytska ‘Consistency’ [Premiere]

Consistency addresses rituals, myths, and ancient objects that symbolise human instincts and cognitive connections to our past. Through sequential, repetitive actions, the work delves into the idea of maintaining a sense of unity and the importance of consistency in various aspects of life.

CONCERT
La Mia Bella Sorella ‘The Texture of Green Blood’ [Premiere]

Green Blood is a physical and sonic investigation of kinship and connection. Following a score comprising both freely improvised and strictly composed passages, the Copenhagen-based performance duo La Mia Bella Sorella consists of principal dancer with the Royal Danish Ballet, Astrid Grarup Elbo, and classically trained violinist Katrine Grarup Elbo (toechter, Søndag Søndag). The pair research the strings of attachment between humans and their surroundings, inviting the audience into a universe of non-verbal conversation, playfulness, experimentation, and musicality.

Alex Albrecht [Live]

Albrecht explores the dreamy, more lush side of electronic music. Using field recordings, ambient soundscapes, and complex, syncopated drum rhythms, Albrecht’s solo work evokes memories of landscapes scattered along an endless journey. For this live show, he will integrate sounds from the surroundings of Wehrmühle and experiment with more organic production.
